SHARING THE HOPE OF JESUS CHRIST IN A HOPELESS WORLD
Dan Gentry, Pastor
Jonathan Daniel Gentry was born and raised in Jacksonville, AR. His parents are the late Jonathan Gentry and Donna Gentry. He has an older brother and a younger sister. Dan, as he prefers, graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1984. He is married to Beverly Gentry, together they have a blended family of eleven children and six grandchildren.
Dan surrendered his life to Christ in 2004. He sensed God’s call to the ministry in 2010. He answered that call in 2013 when he began the Ministerial Course of Study. Dan’s early involvement in ministerial work includes tent revivals, volunteering, and Children’s Church teacher for 11 and 12-year-old boys.
In 2020, Dan was called to full time ministry. On May 2, 2021, he became the pastor for Beacon of Hope Church of the Nazarene. Dan’s desire for the church is to fulfill the Great Commission. He believes the command to “GO” applies to all believers. Dan’s vision is to make disciples who make disciples. He believes the church should be a beacon of hope for its community by sharing the Word of God and meeting people where they are.
Prior to his call to full time ministry, Dan worked in the construction industry. Dan loves the Lord, His Word, and His people. He also loves spending time with his family and working on his farm. Dan’s Scripture to live by is Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ: and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me."
